We want to hear all about your pet tales where an animal helped someone avoid injury or even death with their selfless actions. Things like this happen quite frequently- let's give them the credit they deserve. I have 2 very recent tales of dogs that I know personally to start things off. The first involves a Bull-mastiff named Conan.
One night last november (2009) Conan woke his owner up by barking incessantly. His owner stood up and realized immediatly that something was wrong. He felt dizzy and went downstairs to check the furnace. Sure enough, there was a carbon monoxide leak. While he was downstairs, the fumes overtook him, and he passed out. Once again, Conan began barking until his owner came to enough to realize that he had to get out of there- fast! He made it to the top of the stairs, but collapsed again. This time when he awoke, Conan was physically dragging him toward the back door. With Conan's help, he made it to the back door and the two of them got out safely. Good Boy, Conan!!
Story number two also happened last November and involves a pit bull named Baby. His "Mother" has asthma and only one lung. One day she was sitting on the couch at home and felt her breathing becoming increasingly difficult. She couldn't remember where she left her inhaler, which increased her anxiety level. She started saying to her dog "Oh, Baby, I'm so sick. Mama's so sick." She laid her head back on the couch to try to relax and possibly remember where she laid her inhaler. She heard Baby rummaging around and figured he was getting into something, but she was too preoccupied to check. The next thing she knew, Baby was there with her inhaler, putting it into her hand. One side note- Baby was only 7 months old at the time...Good Puppy, Baby!!
